CIRCLESCAPES

Circlescapes invites viewers to see the circle not just as a shape but as a space—one that holds energy, depth, and infinite variation. The series explores movement, texture, and depth within the circle, where etched lines, shifting patterns, and layered surfaces interact. Each composition exists within a contained world of motion and form. I create the designs digitally and print them in vinyl, or cut the vinyl directly by hand. I then apply the vinyl to the steel, which is submerged in an etching solution I make from copper sulfate crystals, salt, and water. The solution removes the exposed areas of the steel while the vinyl resists the reaction, resulting in raised textures and subtle dimensional shifts. Patinas and carefully applied color enhance the surface, deepening the visual impact and reinforcing the illusion of movement.
